How to add a signature in Yahoo Mail
Yahoo Mail tucks its signature toggle a level deeper than Gmail or Outlook, but the setup takes about a minute once you know the path — and it supports styled text per account.

Where Yahoo hides the signature setting
Yahoo Mail buries its signature configuration two levels deep — Settings gear → More Settings → Writing email — which is one level further than most webmail and the main reason people give up looking. Yahoo's signature editor supports styled text — bold, colors, links — and accepts pasted images, though it has no image upload button of its own. Open the full settings
In Yahoo Mail on the web, click the Settings gear (top right), then More Settings at the bottom of the panel.
Go to Writing email
In the left sidebar, choose Writing email. You'll see a Signature section listing each connected email account.
Toggle the signature on
Flip the switch next to the account you're setting up. A text editor appears beneath it.
Compose the signature
Type your name, title, and contact details. The editor supports bold, italics, links, and colors. To include your signature mark, paste a copied image — or keep the footer text-only, which renders most reliably.
Mobile app
In the Yahoo Mail app, tap your profile icon → Settings → scroll to Signatures, toggle it on, and enter the text. Like most mail apps, the mobile signature is separate from the web one.
Troubleshooting
Signature saved but not appearing
The per-account toggle beside the editor is off. Each connected mailbox has its own switch in Writing email → Signature; the editor retains content even when disabled.
Pasted image vanished after saving
Yahoo occasionally drops pasted images on save. Paste the image again as the final edit before leaving the page, and verify with a test email; if it keeps dropping, use a text-only signature with a link instead.
Styling looks different in received mail
Yahoo wraps signatures in its own markup and receiving clients interpret it loosely. Simple structures survive best: name line, title line, one link, small image.
No Signature section in the app settings
Older versions of the Yahoo Mail app hide it. Update the app; the setting lives under profile icon → Settings → scroll to Signatures.
Best practices
- Yahoo appends the signature to replies and forwards too, with no separate short version — so keep the one signature compact enough to repeat in threads.
- If you use Yahoo with a custom domain or forwarded address, confirm which account identity the toggle belongs to — signatures follow the account, not the alias.
- Test cross-provider: Yahoo-to-Gmail rendering is the combination most likely to reveal spacing quirks.
- Set the mobile app signature at the same time you do the web one; matching sign-offs across devices reads as intentional.

Yahoo saves my signature but doesn't add it to emails — why?

Can I add an image to a Yahoo signature?
